LOGOS CIRCLE ABA MEETUP #3
Welcome to the 3rd Logos Circle Aba meetup.
Our last Circle focused on a real issue affecting people in our community: Housing.
We brought tenants, landlords, community members, and a lawyer from our Circle together to talk about tenancy rights, responsibilities, quit notices, rent, and other housing-related issues.
Two members of our Circle who had received one-month quit notices were able to resolve the matter. The notices were reversed, and three months’ rent was cancelled for each tenant.
We want to continue that work in August.
HOUSING REMAINS OUR FOCUS
This Circle will continue our housing rights and awareness campaign.
We will:
Help tenants better understand their rights and responsibilities.
Create more awareness around tenancy agreements, rent and quit notices.
Engage landlords, tenants and community leaders.
Identify tenants who are struggling with rent.
Explore ways the Circle can support selected tenants.
Identify other housing issues we can work on together.
A lawyer who is part of our Circle has also committed to being available to support the awareness campaign. He will come with booklets containing useful information on the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants.
