About Event

The second network gathering of practitioners, researchers, and institutional actors in Liechtenstein to do three things:

1/ Craft a shared structural diagnosis of the housing system,
2/ Triage specific mechanisms that can make alternative housing futures work at scale
3/ Outline locations to demonstrate that can travel across a European network of nodes.

The premise of the gathering is to developing a process to explicitly design surfaces of Exclosure:

"Exclosures are institutional rules the sole purpose of which are to protect particular community dynamics from the institutional environment around it. An exclosure leverages the rules of a particular system in order to build a protective membrane that prevents the institution from trespassing into this newly carved out territory. The power of an exclosure is that it speaks the same language (or ruleset) as the institutional enclosures that it tries to escape from, creating a 'fence within a fence'. Thus, the only way for the surrounding system to reach inside the exclosure would be for it to break its own rules." - Jessy Kate Schingler

Sessions will move through enabling conditions for alternative housing models, mechanism deep-dives (including Rent Credit Obligations, Tokenised Access Rights, and Threshold Pooling), spatial and infrastructural imagination around collective ownership, and the first assembly of a digital context layer.
