

Applachian Applebutter Canning Experience with Ashley English
Spend an afternoon at Laughing Tree Cove learning the old-fashioned art of making and preserving apple butter with celebrated author and Appalachian foodways teacher, Ashley English.
We'll work together learning hands-on the art of apple butter creation and the science of water-bath canning along the way. You'll leave with your own jar of apple butter, class notes, and the knowledge to make it and safely can your own produce at home.

Ashley English is the author of eleven books, including five books in her Homemade Living Series (Canning & Preserving, Keeping Chickens, Keeping Bees, Home Dairy, and Home Apothecary); A Year of Pies; Handmade Gatherings; Quench; A Year of Picnics; The Essential Book of Homesteading; and Southern From Scratch. She also does a good deal of teaching, as well as freelance writing, both digital and print, and has been featured in a number of major publications. Ashley lives in Candler, NC with her husband Glenn, two young sons Huxley and Alistair, and a menagerie of animals.
Laughing Tree Cove is a 16-acre forested gathering/learning place in the shadow of Mt. Pisgah in Candler, NC, where people recover embodied stewardship skills and build lasting community connections through hands-on practice alongside kindred spirits.
