Movie night: "Primer" (2004)

​"Primer" is my favorite film depiction of invention at work. It begins with engineers making something in a garage, and things quickly get out of hand. If you haven't seen it, I suggest going in blind, not watching trailers, etc.

​It is itself an interesting portrait of creative work: Shane Carruth wrote, directed, scored, edited, and starred in it, with a $7,000 budget. It's just 77 minutes long. Yet it took the grand jury prize at Sundance that year. Carruth made one more (wonderful) movie, then sadly imploded.

​Anyway, it came up in conversation with Jason Carman that he hasn't seen it. But it seemed perfect for him, so we're hosting a movie night.

​We'll gather at 7 and probably start watching around 7:15. Those who wish can discuss interpretations afterwards.
