Lit Club x Upstate Weekends is thrilled to invite you on a special weekend reading retreat to the Catskills!
Described by Condé Nast Traveler as the perfect blend of “a ritzy hotel and a peaceful country rental,” we’ll be cozying up at Camptown — a newly opened boutique hotel that seamlessly combines design and outdoor appeal. Nestled in the Catskill Mountains and just 12 minutes outside Hudson, this property boasts preppy woodside cabins, a Jaliscan restaurant Eater calls “the state’s best Mexican restaurant,” and plenty of glamorous firepits to snuggle up by with your favorite book!
So grab your shearling coat and leather overnight bag, and join us for a restful weekend of nature, reading, delicious meals, and the signature warmth and style of the Lit Club community. We can’t wait to sip our whiskey neat by the fire with you! 🥃✨
Itinerary
Throughout the weekend, we’ll explore what it means to truly rest—body, mind, and spirit—through conversation, reading, and stillness. Our literary companions for the retreat will be Upstream: Selected Essays by Mary Oliver and Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan—two luminous works that invite reflection on rest, reverence, and renewal!
Friday – Arrival & Connection
Travel to Camptown (on your own) by Amtrak from Penn Station or Metro-North from Grand Central (with transfer in Poughkeepsie) to Hudson
Check in and receive your weekend goodie bag—featuring both Upstream and Small Things Like These
Welcome Dinner at Casa Susanna (on property)

Saturday – Rest & Read
Breakfast at leisure (à la carte from the Pantry)
Rest & Read Session — gather around the property (the firepit, lobby, porches, or your cozy cabin) for quiet reading time

🛍️ Antique & Vintage Hunter: Explore Hudson’s best shops
📚 Literary Crawl: Visit beloved bookstores and a local magazine shop in Hudson

Sunday – Reflection & Farewell
Rest & Read Session — gather around the property (the firepit, lobby, porches, or your cozy cabin) for quiet reading
Breakfast Book Swap & Mini Book Fair: Trade a favorite book with fellow guests and browse a small selection of curated titles from Hudson’s local shops. Enjoy a final meal together as we close the weekend in community!
Pricing
Your ticket includes guided programming, goodie bags (featuring both books), and all lodging and meals—with the exception of Saturday dinner.
$995 per person: Single occupancy queen room: enjoy your own room.
$799 per person: Double occupancy cabin: share a cabin with a fellow lit clubber—you’ll each have your own room and bed. Dogs welcome in this package!
$650 per person: Double occupancy queen room: share a queen bed with a partner or friend.
