AIIJ Advanced Investigative Journalism Course
Investigative journalism is changing, and the methods journalists use must change with it.
The African Institute for Investigative Journalism (AIIJ) invites applications for its inaugural Advanced Investigative Journalism Course an intensive three-day residential professional masterclass for journalists who want to go beyond press releases, official statements and the daily news cycle.
Participants will receive practical training in modern investigative journalism, finding and developing leads, following the money, AI, data journalism, digital investigation, OSINT, online verification, mobile journalism, investigative documentary production, multimedia storytelling, interviewing powerful people, legal and ethical considerations, story development and investigative pitching.
This is not a conventional journalism workshop. Participants will work with experienced investigative journalism practitioners from Uganda, across Africa and the wider international journalism community. Each participant will develop a real investigative idea and leave with an AIIJ Investigative Story Blueprint to guide their next investigation.
Applications are open to senior, mid-career, young and emerging journalists, particularly those covering politics, business, health, the environment, governance, human rights, education, technology and other public-interest issues.
The participation fee is USD 530 per person. It includes residential accommodation, meals, training, materials and certification.
Places are limited, and selection is competitive.
Application deadline: 30 September 2026.
