Three Ways to Start Your Meetings | The Meeting Medic
Make sure your meetings are off to a great start!
WHAT THIS WORKSHOP IS ABOUT
We’ll go over three methods to start your meetings that will help your groups feel connected, direct everyone’s attention where you want it to go, and increase participation by getting people contributing right away.
You'll leave the workshop with:
Three new methods for starting your meeting (at least!)
A deeper understanding of how we can leverage group size as facilitators (and how this immediately increases contributions)
An appreciation for your favorite ways to connect with other people (and yourself!)
The first five minutes of a meeting set the tone and expectations. So let's get intentional about how we're beginning our agendas and plan for the results we want to see.
Learn everything you need to know about these processes and kick off your meetings with confidence!
WHAT WILL IT BE LIKE?
We'll cover three facilitation processes that work to kick off any meeting or workshop you lead. You'll get to experience each method, see how it's facilitated, and reflect on the experience.
We’ll use a variety of methods including writing, pair shares, live-polling, chat, fishbowls, and more!
The workshop will start right at the hour and will be 45-minutes long.
FEEDBACK ABOUT THE SESSION
"Really loved the way the meeting was structured, by actually using the techniques and discussing each one after experiencing it. It gave me a great feel for the strengths (and weaknesses) of each approach."
"Claire was very organized and engaging. We kept time but never felt rushed...as someone who facilitates for a living, I'm so impressed!"
"Love how many tools I got in 30 minutes and appreciate the references to Facilitator Cards as a reminder for more ways to use them. Thanks!"
WHO’S IT FOR?
Anyone who leads meetings!
Facilitators – We guarantee these methods will work for getting everyone engaged in your workshops within the first five minutes! (Plus, you can use all of them before breaks & for wrap-ups!)
Coaches – These methods are great for both group and solo coaching sessions. These structures are useful whenever you want to help clients reflect!
Leaders & Managers – If you want to lead collaborative engaging meetings where people are involved, sharing, and invested (and don’t leave thinking, “Wow this could have been an email.”) this is for you!

EXPECTATIONS OF THE SESSION
Be ready to participate! This session is participatory! We will use a variety of methods including the chat, live polling, breakout rooms, journaling, and large group conversation.
Participation in this event does not require your camera to be on. However, it does require participation in pair breakout room conversations - so it’s not a good session to multitask during!
The session will be recorded and shared. The recording will be focused in the main room, no breakout conversations will be recorded.
After the session you will also receive access to a resource hub that will contain:
A recording of the event that you can access anytime, carefully chaptered to help you jump to key parts
A breakdown of the agenda and prompts used in the session
Additional facilitation resources & recommendations
WHAT DOES IT COST?
Tickets are available on a sliding scale. We welcome you to pay whatever you're comfortable with, including $0!

WHO’S LEADING THE SESSION
Hey hi hello there, I'm Claire! I'm a facilitator, coach, comedian, and VP of Facilitator Cards.
Working at Facilitator Cards for the past five years has been an incredible and unique way to learn the art of facilitation. Methods of engagement, understanding how to sequence processes to yield the best results, and how to develop my own facilitation style while utilizing Facilitator Cards for each and every one of my workshops & coaching sessions.
