The Hidden Machinery of Schooling: Uncovering Schooling's True Design

​Why do we sit in rows, move at the sound of a bell, and measure learning in marks? Modern schooling wasn't designed by accident. In this participatory jam, we dig into its history: the political, economic and ideological forces that shaped it, whose interests it served, and how those ideas still run the way we learn. Then we ask the festival's big question. Children today will face problems no textbook has answers for, in jobs and worlds that don't yet exist. What will carry them is curiosity to keep asking, creativity to imagine what isn't there yet, and agency to act on it. If school was built to produce obedience, how do we build for these instead?
