Japanese Calligraphy with Live Piano Performance

​Join us for an intimate evening of a live Japanese calligraphy - improvisational piano performance. 

​Hailing from Japan, the master calligrapher RIHAKU will use large brushes to write selected characters of the season on the walls in her live performance, while Ayaka Matsui interacts with each stroke and meaning behind the characters and improvises on the piano.

​This unique pairing of Japanese calligraphy with live improvisational piano presents an expression of poetry– through a visual trace of time, movement, and emotion.
