The presentation would discuss the blueprint of MY Mental Wellness being established in 2016 by the youth committee to its historic opening as a clinic in 2024. The conversation will include steps that other communities can take to encourage mental health initiatives from within Islamic centers and how masaajid can become centers of positive change and impact.
About the Speaker
Danish Hasan is an award-winning public health professional with expertise in nonprofit mental health. Currently, Danish serves as the Health Director at the Islamic Center of Detroit where he oversees the MY Mental Wellness (MMW) program. In February 2024, MMW opened to the community as the first fully-staffed mental health clinic established inside an Islamic center in America. Since opening, MMW has provided over 2,500 therapy and counseling sessions free of cost to the community, prioritizing faith-based approaches and accessibility.
