About the Event
Black Silo is bringing Module 4 of Fryer’s Trading Academy to Vienna for a full-day workshop focused on futures and options hedging, position sizing and practical risk management in agricultural commodity markets.
The five-hour workshop takes the Module 4 material into live application, led by Dr. Rory Deverell. It will be followed by Black Silo’s grain and oilseed Market Outlook and an opportunity to exchange views with the team and other market professionals.
Participants can register for the workshop, the Market Outlook or both.

10:00–15:00 — Futures & Options Hedging and Risk Management Workshop
Led by Dr. Rory Deverell
The workshop will take the principles covered in Module 4 of Fryer’s Trading Academy into a live, in-person setting.
Topics include:
• Hedging with futures
• Hedging with options
• Position sizing
• Connecting hedging decisions with physical exposure
• Practical commodity risk-management frameworks
The session is free for enrolled Academy students and open to non-course participants for €500.
15:30–17:00 — Grain and Oilseed Market Outlook
Led by Dr. Rory Deverell
Black Silo’s current view of the grain and oilseed markets, drawing on physical cash prices, market developments and the team’s experience across trading and risk management.
The Market Outlook is free for Fryers Reports clients and open to non-clients for €100.
Participants may attend the Market Outlook without joining the morning workshop.
17:00–18:00 — Networking
The day will close with informal discussion with the Black Silo team and fellow agricultural-market professionals.
Networking is included for registered participants at no additional charge.
About the Speaker
Dr. Rory Deverell
Founder of Black Silo and lead instructor at Fryer’s Trading Academy
Rory has more than 15 years of experience across agricultural commodity markets. He spent 12 years at StoneX as a futures and options broker and risk-management consultant, followed by two years in physical trading with R&H Hall.
For the past three years, he has written the Fryers Reports while building Black Silo. His PhD research examined biofuels, farm economics and land use, while his practical agricultural experience includes growing crops and developing risk-management plans on his family farm.
