​This month at DaDa, we’re reading Working Girl: On Selling Art and Selling Sex by Sophia Giovannitti.

​“Working Girl” suggests that selling an image, a persona, or a feeling isn’t separate from who we are, it’s part of how we move through the world. Giovannitti blurs the line between art, identity, and labour, arguing that attention itself has become currency, and learning to navigate that consciously is a form of power.

​The book questions why some forms of selling ourselves are romanticised, while others are judged and what it actually means to exist publicly as something consumable. It’s less about art or sex, and more about visibility, value, and the economics of being seen.
