About Event

Join Emma, your Forest Bathing+ guide, for a relaxing escape into nature with a Forest Bathing+ experience at the enchanting Hatfield House. Originating from Japan (known as shinrin yoku), numerous scientific studies have highlighted its remarkable benefits, ranging from boosting overall wellbeing and easing stress, to supporting heart health and strengthening our immune system.

Immerse yourself in the serene beauty of the woods using your senses to rejuvenate both body and mind. Whether you're a seasoned nature lover or just curious, this gentle experience offers a perfect way to unwind and connect with the natural world in a whole new way. Bring your sense of adventure and let nature do the rest. 🌿

Please note: the details we ask for in the registration form are so we can provide as safe and comfortable session for you. We ask that you answer as honestly as possible. Any information provided is treated confidentially and is only used for providing a safe and comfortable forest bathing experience.

In addition, as we walk off the main paths into woodland during the session, if you have severe mobility issues, forest bathing may not be suitable. However, please contact me before you register to discuss this further.

What to expect from a Forest Bathing+ session

Each session will vary but expect to take a slow and gentle walk through the woodland. We may cover around 1.5-2 km in a 2.5 hour session. The session uses mindfulness techniques (although no previous experience of mindfulness is needed) as we move slowly under the canopy of the woodland.

You will use your senses to help you slow down and connect with nature. So, for example, you may be guided to listen to the woodland noises e.g. birdsong and/or rustling of the trees. We might also move around or sit and touch moss or the bark of a tree. These are just some examples and all activities are entirely voluntary.

You will be encouraged to slow down your breathing, which can help us both relax and also breath in the chemicals released from trees, which are beneficial to our health. I can tell you more about this at the session.

We will spend the majority of the session in silence to help us relax as much as possible, but there will be some chances to share, if you would like to.

Towards the end of the session, we find a quiet place to either sit or lie down for a longer relaxation exercise. After which, there is a final opportunity to share with the group, should you wish, and then we will make our way back to the car park.
