Herbal Tea Tasting + Oxymel Making
TASTE BLIND, TRUST WHAT YOU FEEL
A hands-on evening in herbal medicine, tea, tincture, and the plant wisdom Western wellness keeps trying to bottle and sell back to you.
You're going to taste three herbs blind, with no label to tell you what to think, and write down what your own body says before anyone tells you what's "correct." This is the exact method clinical herbalists use in training, because the plant has to mean something to your senses before it means anything on paper.
Then you'll make two things to take home: your own tea blend, and an oxymel, a centuries-old preparation of fresh herbs steeped in honey and apple cider vinegar, still used today as a daily tonic.
How the evening runs
6:30 – 6:45pm. Arrive, settle in, quick intros
6:45 – 7:30pm Blind tea tasting: three herbal teas, brewed fresh from the garden, tasted one at a time with nothing but paper, a pen, and your own senses. We compare notes as a group before any herb is named, then unpack what you tasted, its medicinal use, and the folklore that comes with it.
7:30 – 7:50pm Build your own tea bags from a selection of dried herbs to take home
7:50 – 8:25pm Make an oxymel: fresh herbs, honey, apple cider vinegar, your own labelled jar to take home
8:25 – 8:30pm Close
This is for you if: you're curious about herbal medicine beyond what's trending on a wellness app, you want to actually do something with your hands rather than sit through a talk, and you're not precious about getting a bit messy with honey and vinegar.
