Journocoders: Exploring connections in text data with embeddings
This month we'll be learning how to explore connections in text data with embeddings.
Embeddings are used in AI to translate data into numbers that represent the meaning of that data. This means that if two bits of data have a similar meaning, they'll also have similar numbers. This is very useful! We can use them to search text data by describing what we're looking for — we'll find results even if they don't use any of the same words. We can also use them to group our data into clusters where the text is about similar ideas.
In this session we'll be following a tutorial that explains the underlying concepts and technologies you need to work with embeddings, how to calculate them with a free model, and then how to find clusters.
All of our events are suitable for beginners, and no programming experience is required. Bring a laptop along as this a practical, hands-on workshop. Please also sign up for a Dropbox account if you don't already have one so you can edit the shared doc we'll be using during the event.
