2026 Turner Prize, Teesside University's MIMA (Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art)

One of the world’s preeminent prizes for contemporary art, the Tate organised Turner Prize showcases and celebrates the most exciting new developments in British art. Named for the nineteenth-century artist JMW Turner, the Turner Prize is one of the world’s leading artistic accolades and is awarded annually to an artist either born, or who primarily works, in Britain.

Each year the Turner Prize jury shortlist four artists for an outstanding exhibition, or presentation, of their creative work. This year's shortlisted artists are:

Simeon Barclay, Kira Freije, Marguerite Humeau, and Tanoa Sasraku.

The prize has helped launch the careers and reputations of numerous internationally renowned artists including Damien Hirst, Steve McQueen, Lubaina Himid and most recently, Jasleen Kaur.
