Future Film: Inside an XPRIZE Top 50 Film

​More than 2,500 filmmakers entered the $3.5M+ Future Vision XPRIZE, and two Future Film OGs, Raffi Asdourian and Jesse Catlin, made the original Top 50 with The Calling. This Tuesday, they’re joining us to screen the trailer and tell us how they got there.

​The Future Vision XPRIZE is looking for stories that offer compelling visions of humanity’s future. The grand prize includes $100,000 in cash and a $2.5 million equity investment to develop the winning concept into a feature film.

​We’ll watch The Calling and hear how Raffi and Jesse interpreted the challenge, developed the idea, made the film, and navigated what Raffi calls the “trials and tribulations” of competing in a field of more than 2,500 entries.

​They’ll also take us through the viral marketing they built around The Calling. There’s a separate $100,000 Audience Choice prize pool decided by public vote, which gave them another challenge: getting the film seen, getting people talking about it, and getting people to vote.

​Raffi and Jesse have been part of Future Film since the beginning. We’ve watched them build Prompt Delivery, their AI production studio, and earlier this year they joined us to share the commercial AI workflows they were developing. Now we get to see how they brought that experience to a film of their own.
