About Event

Postpartum recovery is one of the biggest blind spots in modern motherhood - especially for women who plan to return to demanding jobs.

We prepare extensively for labor, newborn care, and breastfeeding. But when it comes to your recovery - physical, mental, emotional - most women are handed silence, vague reassurances, and a six-week checkup that barely scratches the surface.

For working mothers, that gap is costly. It shows up as exhaustion you can’t shake. As anxiety or depression you didn’t expect. As pain, resentment, brain fog, or a loss of confidence right when you’re expected to be “back.”

This workshop exists to fill that gap. We've brought together a panel of experts to cover the three essential pillars of your recovery:

The Physical: Amanda Kessner, co-founder of East Bay Midwives, will bust the myths of post-birth recovery. She'll guide us through the first six weeks, from healing and hemorrhage signs to the reality of those first 96 hours when your milk comes in.

The Mental: Linda Meier Abdelsayed, founder of Smart Talk Therapy, specializes in maternal mental health. She'll help us navigate the unrealistic expectations of bonding and the prenatal mood shifts that often catch us by surprise months down the line.

The Emotional: Rachel Salinas, Lactation Counselor and founder of Wild Woman Studios, focuses on the 'art and science' of becoming a mother. She’ll help us navigate 'resentment traps' with your partner, the 'new normal' of maternal ambivalence, and how to carve out space for your healing and growth during this transition.

In this 60-minute, interactive session, we’ll cover:

  • How to prepare for postpartum recovery while you’re still pregnant

  • How the early postpartum period actually unfolds - including what’s normal, what’s not, and when to seek support

  • The types of support that make the biggest difference (what to proactively line up vs. what can wait)

  • Live Q&A with space for your real questions

If you’re planning to have a baby, or still making sense of a postpartum experience that didn’t get the care it deserved, this session will give you clarity, language, and a roadmap most women are never offered.
