Apapcharnos: Being with Change
Apapacharnos: Being with Change
Breath, Communication & the Threshold of Equinox
September 21 | Virtual Gathering
How do we learn to be with change while we are still inside of it?
Arriving on the day before the Fall Equinox, Apapacharnos: Being with Change is an experiential gathering exploring our relationship with transition, communication, and the movement of life through us.
Our gathering is inspired by the energy of 8 Iq’. In the Maya calendar, Iq’ is associated with wind, breath, communication, inspiration, and change. Combined with the number 8, a number associated with wholeness and balance, the day offers an invitation to listen for the fuller message emerging through our lives: the wisdom carried by what has come before us meeting the voice of what is becoming.
Breath itself teaches us something about change. We receive. We release. We pause. We begin again. Each inhale and exhale reminds us that life is not static, and that change does not always ask us to know where we are going before we begin moving.
As we approach the Fall Equinox, we also arrive at a seasonal threshold between light and darkness. The Equinox offers a moment to notice what has shifted since the Summer Solstice, what is asking to be released or spoken, and what we are learning to carry differently into the season ahead.
Together, we will explore being with change rather than immediately trying to control, resist, or make meaning from it. Through guided reflection, embodied practice, breath, plática, and ceremonial space, we will listen for what change may be communicating through the interconnected rivers of spirit, mind, emotion, and body.
We will also consider the relationship between communication and change. What becomes possible when something that has remained unspoken finally finds language? How might we listen for the messages moving through us without assuming every message requires immediate action? And how can our words become part of creating change with greater care, clarity, and reciprocity?
Our time together may include:
Breath and embodied practices for meeting transition
Reflection through the four rivers of spirit, mind, emotion, and body
Exploring what change is asking us to notice, name, release, or receive
Practices of listening before speaking
Plática and heart-centered reflection
Equinox contemplation and seasonal tending
A closing practice of gratitude for the breath of life and the wisdom carried through change
Apapacharnos speaks to the practice of caring for ourselves tenderly. Within The Art of Being With, we explore a simple but lifelong question: How do I learn to be with what arises in my own life?
On this threshold of Equinox, we gather not to demand certainty from what is changing, but to become more present to the life moving through it.
To breathe with change.
To listen for what is being communicated.
And to meet what is becoming with tenderness.
