Golden Hour Foliage Hike + Viewing - Central Vermont
This event is free to attend, with optional donations welcomed.
Join The Venture Out Project on this short but spectacular hike to a rock summit with breathtaking views.
This event is all about the destination! The hike is less than half a mile with about 100 feet of elevation gain. Elevation is gained fairly steeply on a switch backed trail. The trail is a mix of stone steps, slab rocks, and rooty, uneven terrain. We'll move at the pace of the slowest hiker with plenty of time to navigate the path carefully.
Once we reach the summit, we'll plan to spend about an hour on top watching as the sun slowly lowers and the golden hour descends, illuminating the foliage. Feel free to meditate, draw, take pictures, or otherwise enjoy the time on the summit. I'll bring my hiking stove and water to make hot drinks on top and will provide an array of instant teas, cocoa, and coffee. Plan to bring a non-breakable mug if you'd like to partake! We'll leave the summit before sunset to navigate back to our cars safely in the light and exit the park by sunset (closing time).
This event is located in the Groton Town Forest, near Marshfield, VT.
We ask folks under the age of 18 to please register themselves and an adult to accompany them.
If you require a service dog to attend, please let us know and we’ll collaborate with you on how to keep you both comfortable and hydrated on this hike.
