Here & Now Experience | An Evening with Jane Marie Chen
Leaders in Tech invites you to an intimate evening with Jane Marie Chen — entrepreneur, inventor, and author of the national bestseller Like a Wave We Break. This will be an honest conversation about the parts of the founder's journey rarely named out loud: the ambition, the failures, how we see our self-worth, and what becomes possible when we stop performing.
Jane will share the story of Embrace – the highs and the low lows. From there, we’ll have an experiential exercise to tap into your own founder experience, followed by a fireside chat.
Every attendee will receive a copy of Like a Wave We Break in advance.
This experience is designed for founders – ready to talk openly about ambition, failures, and our own growth.
**This event is being sponsored by Leaders in Tech. Please be respectful and show up if you say you are going to show up, or cancel your registration prior to allow others to participate.
About Jane:
Jane Marie Chen is a social entrepreneur, inventor, and author whose career has been defined by building audacious things — and learning, at great cost, what gets left behind in the process.
A Harvard Kennedy School and Stanford GSB graduate, Jane co-founded Embrace Innovations and invented a low-cost infant warmer now estimated to have saved the lives of over 1 million premature babies across more than 30 countries. She has been recognized as a TED Fellow, a Forbes Impact 30 honoree, and a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, and her work has been featured in Essentialism and Creative Confidence.
Her debut memoir, Like a Wave We Break: A Memoir of Falling Apart and Finding Myself (Penguin Random House, 2025), is the story she didn't tell while the awards were being given. It chronicles the collapse of the company she built, the unraveling of the identity she'd constructed around it, and a global search for healing that took her far beneath the surface of her own ambitions. Bessel van der Kolk, author of The Body Keeps the Score, calls it "a brilliant and gripping book about how resilience, keen intelligence, and sheer grit can transform cultural legacy and family adversity into hope."
Jane is also an avid surfer and meditator.
