Period Action Day: Unveiling TSO P.E.R.I.O.D Initiative

​Menstruation remains one of the most stigmatised and least resourced areas of health and education globally, with the burden falling hardest on adolescent girls and women across Africa and the Global South. The Smile Outreach's PERIOD. initiative was built to close that gap through a three-phase Research → Education → Media pipeline, anchored by The Period Dictionary , a multilingual, first-of-its-kind reference for menstrual health terminology.

​Period Action Day 2026 is the public starting gun for PERIOD. It is the single moment where the initiative's foundational pieces the research programme. This coalition that will steward the Dictionary, and the Dictionary itself — become real and public at the same time, in front of the audiences who will carry the work forward.
