✳️ Panel 1: 10:00 - 10:50am

Theme: Enabling a Regional Evidence Base for Plan-Making

This session will focus on how digital innovation can help the creation of spatial evidence bases that can be shared across local authority boundaries and different types of plans within the same region. This theme is especially relevant for stakeholders interested in the production of Spatial Development Strategies (SDS) and plan-making from a regional lens.

The session will include a keynote from Arthur Young (MHCLG Deputy Director for Development Plans), followed by a moderated discussion between 5 funded pilots:

Pilot 1: City Science, in partnership with Plymouth City Council, Cheshire & Warrington Combined Authority, Cheltenham Borough Council, and Tewkesbury Borough Council

Pilot 2: ESRI UK, in partnership with LANDCLAN, Oxfordshire County Council, Nottingham City Council, Surrey County Council, and Spelthorne Borough Council

Theme: Improving Key Elements of the Evidence Base

This session will focus on how digital innovation can improve specific parts of the plan-making evidence base, such as housing capacity, biodiversity, and infrastructure. These elements of the evidence base are often the most complex and time-consuming. This theme is most relevant for stakeholders interested in streamlining the production of the plan-making evidence base, particularly for the new 30-month Local Plan production window.

The session will include a keynote from King Abeyie (MHCLG Head of Digital Spatial Development Strategies and Growth Tech), followed by a moderated discussion between 3 funded pilots:

Pilot 1: AiDASH, in partnership with Lancaster City Council and Newark & Sherwood District Council

Pilot 2: Advanced Infrastructure, in partnership with North Somerset Council and Bristol City Council

Pilot 3: Blocktype, in partnership with University of Liverpool, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, and West Midlands Combined Authority

✳️ Panel 3: 11:45am - 12:30pm

Theme: Streamlining the S106 Process to Support Planning Decisions

This session will focus on how digital innovation can improve the process of developing and negotiating Section 106 agreements, including by streamlining financial viability appraisals, benchmarking, and collaboration on Section 106 workflows. Improving this process could support the speed and quality of planning decisions. This theme is most relevant for stakeholders interested in improving the Section 106 process on both the private and public sector side.

The session will include a keynote from Lydia Mihailovic (MHCLG Head of Developer Contributions), followed by a moderated discussion between 3 funded pilots:

Pilot 1: AI Gizmo, in partnership with Birmingham City Council, Reading Borough Council, Zen Living Management, and University of Wolverhampton
