Make the Earth Cool Again: Harnessing culture for climate action
Climate solutions are more affordable and available than ever. Films, series, and journalism have brought climate issues to wide audiences, and lived experience and televised disasters have brought the stakes closer to home. Yet the fossil-fuel way of life still feels like the default. It is woven into what feels convenient, trusted, familiar, and cool, and reinforced across generations through media, markets, and identity.
Make the Earth Cool Again is a private, Chatham House Rule workshop during New York Climate Week that asks what changes when culture and climate are more deeply intertwined. It brings together leaders from media and marketing, creative houses, impact investment, behavioral science, philanthropy, civil society, and the private sector. Together we'll explore where cultural climate work is already shifting the balance, how a challenger climate culture can compete across the full range of values that shape everyday choices, and what it would take to make climate-aligned living something people want and choose.
Insights from the room will shape a public white paper and implementation roadmap, published ahead of COP31.
