Cameron Berg on the Empirical Science of AI Consciousness
Join us at Collider for a talk by Cameron Berg, founder and director of Reciprocal Research, a nonprofit building the empirical science of AI consciousness. Cameron's work sits at the intersection of cognitive science, AI, and philosophy, asking a question that's becoming harder to ignore: could frontier AI systems have subjective experiences, and how would we actually find out?
Before starting Reciprocal Research, Cameron was a research director at AE Studio, a Meta AI Resident, and studied cognitive science at Yale. His recent work includes a paper arguing that the evaluative process central to learning (computing progress toward or away from goals) may be identical to conscious experience, published at AAAI.
Whether you think AI consciousness is an urgent moral question or a conceptual confusion, this should be a fascinating evening. Come curious.
