MTLC CAIO Peer Group
MTLC’s CAIO Peer Group brings together leaders responsible for AI strategy and adoption inside their organizations, creating a trusted space to exchange ideas, share challenges, and learn from one another.
Our May 1 session will focus on the people and change-management side of AI, specifically how leaders navigate financial pressure and headcount decisions when AI initiatives struggle to deliver ROI. When AI pilots generate significant spend but limited returns, organizations often face a choice: shut down underperforming efforts or reduce staff and frame it as AI-driven efficiency, all while employees absorb “automate your job” narratives that erode trust and buy-in.
In this conversation, we will tackle that human element head-on: how to communicate clearly about AI, protect and reskill talent, and position AI as a way to unlock cost savings that can be reinvested into more aspirational, growth-oriented work instead of simple layoffs. The group will share concrete approaches for aligning AI initiatives with business outcomes, avoiding headcount-only “savings,” and building a healthier, more sustainable AI culture inside Massachusetts tech companies.
