About Event

AI is transforming every industry — but how do we ensure it does so safely and responsibly?

AI Safety Hong Kong is launching a Speaker Series bringing together researchers, entrepreneurs, policy thinkers, and students to explore how we shape the future of AI with human values at its core. This is the inaugural event of what will be an ongoing series building a thoughtful, safety-conscious AI community in Hong Kong.

Our first speaker is Tzu Kit Chan, Chief of Staff at Atlas Computing. Tzu has several years of operations experience in AI safety nonprofits — he previously ran ops for MATS, cofounded Caltech AI Alignment, served as executive director of Stanford AI Alignment, and continues to advise AI safety groups at 25+ top universities worldwide.

He'll be taking us through what it actually means to prepare for artificial general intelligence — the risks, the governance gaps, and what alignment and accountability look like in practice.

🔹 The real risks and opportunities of increasingly capable AI systems
🔹 Building transparency, accountability, and alignment into AI models
🔹 How Hong Kong's unique position — as a financial hub and bridge between China and the West — shapes its role in responsible AI governance

Who should attend: AI researchers and developers, tech entrepreneurs, policy and law professionals — and students in CS, law, public policy, or any field where AI is about to reshape the landscape.

Whether you're writing your thesis on machine learning or just trying to figure out what alignment means, you're welcome here. No technical background required.
