About Event

To unlock the full potential of plant synthetic biology, researchers need more than just advanced laboratory techniques, they need standardised, reproducible, and open-source foundation tools. In this lecture, Marilene Pavan introduces the strategic initiatives driving the new iGEM Technology Committee’s Plant Thrust.

Drawing on over two decades of experience across metabolic engineering and bio-automation, Marilene will highlight how iGEM is reshaping plant synbio from the ground up. She will explore the development of open-source genetic tools, specialised plant registries, and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data standards designed to lower barriers to entry and empower the global community to engineer next-generation botanical chassis with high precision and reliability.
