Welcome to Climate Warriors Weekend Explorers!
Are you ready to put down the board/pipette/laptop, and go explore the outdoors? We are a group of climate and climate adjacent tech enthusiasts who gather once a month to explore the outdoors. Come join us! Our first trip of 2026 will be a 6.6 mile hike at Purisima Creek Redwood Open Space Preserve, a 5,000 acre preserve along the western side of the Santa Cruz Mountain, filled with 100 year old second growth coastal redwoods, foggy canyons, and sunny ridges.
TRIP DETAILS:
Time/Place: Meet at the Purisima Creek Preserve North Ridge Parking Area at 10 am
Distance: 6.6 miles round trip
Hiking Time: 4-4.5 hours
Total Elevation Gain/ Loss: 1,742 feet
Difficulty: Hard
Facilities: At trail head
Official Trail Use: Dogs are not allowed at this preserve
Shade: Shaded to mostly sunny
FEES: None
WHAT TO BRING:
2 liters of water
Lunch/snacks
Hiking poles, climb back to the parking area can be steep
Jacket/Sweater/hat. It can get chilly in the valley, dress in layers.

Starting at Purisima Creek North Ridge Trailhead, head west -->
Wittemore Gulch Trail, head south -->
Lunch/Snack -->
Harkins Ridge Trail, head East-->
After the loop, Return to Parking Area via Purisima Creek North Ridge Trailhead
