Hardware Guild: Show n' Tell
Hardware Guild: IndiaFOSS Planning + Maker Platform + Laser Cutter Day
This month’s Hardware Guild meetup is going to be a more focused working session at Balu’s house.
We’ll be spending time on three things:
Planning our Hardware Guild / maker presence for IndiaFOSS
Discussing the new maker platform we’re building
Playing with the new laser cutter and figuring out what we can make with it
As always, this is still a casual builder meetup. Bring your hardware projects, unfinished prototypes, PCBs, 3D prints, weird ideas, tools, and opinions. But the main focus this time is to align on what we want to do for IndiaFOSS, what the maker platform should become, and how we can start using the laser cutter for fun and useful projects.
What we’ll do
We’ll start with quick intros and project updates, then spend some time planning for IndiaFOSS.
After that, we’ll talk through the new maker platform: what problem it should solve, who it is for, what features it needs, and how the community can contribute.
And then, of course, we’ll spend time playing with the laser cutter — testing materials, learning the workflow, making small cuts, engraving things, and generally figuring out what this new toy can do.
Bring
Bring anything you want to show, test, cut, engrave, debug, or discuss:
Hardware projects or prototypes
PCBs, dev boards, sensors, enclosures
3D prints or parts you want to improve
Ideas for IndiaFOSS
Thoughts on the maker platform
Small laser-cuttable materials, if you have them
Laptops, chargers, adapters, and extension boards
No pressure to demo anything polished. Half-working prototypes and “I have no idea why this broke” projects are very welcome.
Rough flow
2:00 PM — Doors open
2:30 PM — Intros and project updates
3:00 PM — IndiaFOSS planning
4:00 PM — Maker platform discussion
5:00 PM — Laser cutter experiments
6:30 PM onwards — Open hangout, debugging, chai, and general hardware chatter
Notes
This is hosted at Balu’s house, so please RSVP only if you’re reasonably sure you can make it.
Address will be shared with approved guests closer to the event.
If you want to use the laser cutter, bring safe, reasonable materials and check before cutting anything. No mystery plastics, PVC, vinyl, or anything that might produce nasty fumes.
Bring your own laptop charger adapter if your project needs one.
Let’s keep it practical, friendly, and builder-first.
