Founder's Story: Building Premium Villas in Bali
Join Stanford Entrepreneurs for an intimate fireside chat with Eric Cherng (Stanford B.A., M.S.), entrepreneur and co-founder of Oasis Villas.
Eric is building and operating a boutique hospitality brand in Bali, developing premium villas designed for both lifestyle and long-term investment returns. Before founding Oasis, he spent over a decade across strategy consulting and operating roles, including leadership positions at McKinsey & Company, Trip.com Group, and Costa Crociere. His work has spanned new venture creation, large-scale product innovation, and building customer experiences across global markets.
In this fireside chat, Eric will share lessons from the transition from structured corporate environments to entrepreneurial building, including:
🔹 From Strategy to Reality – What changes when you move from advising companies to owning outcomes on the ground.
🔹 Building in Imperfect Systems – How to operate and make decisions in markets where rules are fluid and information is incomplete.
🔹 Designing for Both Experience and Returns – The tension between creating something beautiful and making the numbers work.
🔹 Entrepreneurship as a Second Life – Rethinking where and how we choose to live, work, and build.
The session will conclude with a live audience Q&A.
