Laughter & Liberation: An Evening of Short Films
Laughter and Liberation is a curation of 5 short films reflecting on the ways Black joy persists, improvises, and creates possibility. These films illuminate how joy emerges not as an escape from struggle, but as a practice necessary for survival. It is an embodied language through which Black communities imagine freedom, care for one another, and move toward collective transformation. The full program will run approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, followed by a conversation with the featured filmmakers.
Featuring:
• Way Back Home (Dir. Chad B. Hamilton)
• Skate (Dir. Zoë Hodge)
• Just a Girl (Dir. Lina Green)
• From Rodeo to Polo: The 1st HBCU Polo Team (Dir. Kendi King)
• Jelly (Dir. Anndi Jinelle Liggett)
The event is free with RSVP. Light snacks and refreshments will be available.
