BIPOC Newsletter Group
✏️ a bipoc writing group for people who want to actually write their newsletters
I keep saying I want to write more. And then the week fills up, the idea sits somewhere in my notes app, and suddenly it's been three weeks since I opened the draft.
I know I ain't the only one.
So I’m starting a small in-person writing group for people who have a newsletter, and could use accountability support to get it out in the world on a consistent basis.
Once a week, we’ll gather at my home in Brooklyn to write together, edit, talk through what we’re working on, and give each other enough communal accountability to actually keep our writing practice alive.
Because I've found for myself, the answer often isn't about becoming more disciplined. Sometimes you just need other people in the room writing alongside you.
⭐️ how does it work?
P simply:
We arrive, get settled, and share what we’re working on
Then, we get into 2 hours of writing
The final hour is for swapping drafts, asking questions, editing together, or talk through something you’re stuck on
V important: this is not a class about how to grow a newsletter.
To level-set expectations, there's no content strategy curriculum, no publishing schedule you gotta follow, no teaching of tips and tricks.
It is, straight and simple, a writing group. Ima be there writing right alongside ya.
I believe that for some us, writing gets easier when we're not doing it in isolation. The point here is to write. To connect with other bipoc writers. To have a dedicated night each week where you know exactly what you're doing, where other people are doing it beside you, and where the thing you keep wanting to write finally gets some actual time.

🌱 who is this for?
BIPOC writers with established newsletters who want to build a more sustainable practice with their writing and connect with other writers.
Here, established means you have a public-facing newsletter (Substack, personal blog, email list, ect) with at least 5 pieces published.
Please only apply if you can attend at least 7 of the 8 gatherings.
☁️ who am i?
I'm Annika (they/she/he). I'm a queer and non-binary Black biracial writer, designer, and founder of School of Softness, a portal for classes and gatherings centered on play.
My newsletter explores the many things that pull at my curiosity: musings on creativity as spirituality, communal dreaming, non-linear time, and the ways each of us can restore care to our individual and interconnected lives.
You can catch more of my vibe on ig or tiktok.
