A Walk Through Lynn's Sustainable Future
What can we change in Lynn to move towards sustainability? This event is for anyone who is feeling helpless and wants to touch grass about it.
Lynn has no climate action plan, and its 20 Year Vision includes increased coastal resilience and tree cover but no renewable energy or electrification. It's time to think global and act local.
We'll start from the green space at the corner of Broad St and Market St, by the All Care with the giant keyhole sculpture in it. From there, we'll follow a route along the coastline (as close as we can safely manage), and then head back along the Lynnway. All told, it's about 5 km distance, and we're covering it at a leisurely pace and with stops for conversation to finish where we start in two hours.
This route will take us past multiple places where climate and sustainability action can and should happen. As we go, we'll brainstorm ideas for those actions. Practical ones, difficult ones, impossible ones, silly ones, ones the size of your head, but most importantly, ideas rooted in physical space and movement. To facilitate this, I'll ask participants to stay off electronic devices during the walk.
We should be arriving back where we started at about noon. An optional lunch at a local eatery will follow -- I'm open to suggestions!
