About Event

Join us for the next session in our SBIR Speaker Series, featuring Jeff Carpenter from Bird Dog Innovation Strategies.

SBIR and STTR grants are a great way for companies to advance their commercially promising innovations, but some big issues routinely crop up related to IP ownership, strategy, and valuation. Among these issues are whether to patent, when to patent, and what to cover. The process of answering these questions will help your overall IP strategy, as well as several other sections of your SBIR Commercialization Plans. And if your technology was originally developed at a university, or you want to subcontract some of your SBIR work to a university, how should you manage IP decisions and ownership?

This session will answer common questions about these types of issues from a business (i.e. non-attorney) perspective, and how to avoid and/or mitigate the potential pitfalls.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Jeff Carpenter is the principal of Bird Dog Innovation Strategies, where he specializes in technology commercialization, due diligence, and patent strategy. He helps entrepreneurs, investors, and companies develop and monetize their intellectual property. Jeff is also a co-founder of SkoobLevart, Inc., a company that creates anti-theft accessories for travelers.
