Visiting Juchhof: Farming, Transformation and the Policy

​Join Global Shapers Zurich for a guided visit to Juchhof, the City of Zurich’s own agricultural enterprise. The farm produces high-quality local products on municipal land, and is a fascinating example of an agricultural testing ground in the midst of Zurich.

The visit will be led by Bernhard Koch, providing an opportunity to learn first-hand about Juchhof’s approach to agricultural transformation and its role within the city’s food system. Beyond the farm itself, we will explore the broader policy perspective: What enables farms to transform? What political and economic incentives are needed to support similar transitions elsewhere – and at which level of government?

​The discussion will connect practical experience on the ground with the wider question of how Switzerland can build a more sustainable and resilient food system while bringing different perspectives into dialogue.

​Global Shapers Zurich organises the event as part of Bridging the Divide, a project that brings together actors across Switzerland’s food value chain – from farmers and FoodTech entrepreneurs to researchers, consumers and policymakers – to foster constructive dialogue and move beyond polarisation around the future of our food system.

​Global Shapers Zurich is part of the global Global Shapers Community, a network of more than 11,000 young people in over 500 cities working on local projects for positive societal change. The Zurich Hub consists of around 30 active members and develops projects in areas including social cohesion, sustainability, health and education.
