The EPA estimated that transportation is responsible for 28% of CO2 emissions in the US in 2022. Come meet the draftsman who helped tear down a freeway.

Join CARL (Climate Action Resource Library) and the Any Job Can Be a Climate Job podcast for a live podcast recording and candid conversation during SF Climate Week. We'll talk with someone who used his existing role in transportation to drive meaningful impact, from inside the system and then outside it.

You’ll walk away with inspiration, real-world stories, and a practical framework for finding climate-aligned actions you can take in your day-to-day.

🧠 This is a live recording of the podcast, so come ready to learn, reflect, and be part of the conversation. Your questions and energy will help shape the episode!

Moderator:

Louisa Henry hosts Any Job Can Be A Climate Job, a podcast for people who want to act on climate but feel like their day job doesn’t count. Each episode is a real story of someone in an unexpected role proving otherwise. After 20 years in product leadership at JPMorgan, Clover Health, Airtable, and Gusto, she now coaches founders and leaders navigating inflection points, the moments when the old map stops working.

Guest:

Jack Lucero Fleck spent 40 years inside San Francisco's transportation system, starting as a draftsman and retiring in 2010 as the city traffic engineer at SFMTA. Along the way he helped tear down the Embarcadero Freeway after the 1989 earthquake and stopped an 11-acre freeway expansion in SOMA, one vote away from being built. Today he's a co-founder of 350 Bay Area and a full-time volunteer climate activist, currently running a friendly competition to get Bay Area cities to electrify their municipal fleets.
