From Vision to Action: Indigenous Leadership and Integrity in Carbon Markets
On behalf of the Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Engagement Forum, an independent, a self-led body hosted by the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM).
We are delighted to invite you to a series of key events taking place during COP30 in Belém, Brazil.
Each of these gatherings contributes to a shared vision: advancing integrity, rights, inclusion and principles of self determination in carbon markets while centering the leadership and lived experiences of Indigenous Peoples, local communities, and Afro-descendant Peoples.
This flagship session is the first of our 3 sessions hosted at COP30, and it brings Indigenous and local community leadership to the forefront of global climate discussions. It explores how rights, consent, and traditional governance intersect with market integrity, drawing on lived experience and practical examples of equitable approaches to climate action.
The discussion will also preview the Forum’s evolving Carbon Market Engagement Strategy — a living roadmap to shape the future of fair, rights-based markets.
