Sonoma Sunday Supper Series
Sonoma Sunday Supper Series
Asombrosa- March 22, 4:30- 7:30pmIn a partnership with Asombrosa, a beautiful 63-acre estate on the outskirts of Petaluma, Place Matters is curating four intimate experiences in 2026 that offer continuing place-based dialogue and also includes a Sunday meal from noted chef Stephane Saint Louis of Bijou and wine from Barber Cellars, together with a guided tour of the property, weather permitting.
The first in the series is CULTURING PLACE featuring Sue Conley and Howard Formby.
Sue Conley, cofounder of Cowgirl Creamery, Tomales Bay Foods, and Bette’s Oceanview Diner, has built local food systems as a cheesemaker, chef, entrepreneur, and environmentalist, always as an advocate for collaboration. In her most recent project at Silver Penny Farm in Petaluma, she has created a place to meet and retreat, linking people working on sustainable agriculture with those engaged in environmental stewardship. In the non-profit sector, Conley has served on the leadership boards of Marin Agricultural Land Trust, Sonoma Ag and Open Space District, American Cheese Society, and the California Artisan Cheese Board.
Howard Formby is dedicated to all aspects of garden design with a focus on regenerative landscapes and garden conservation. His firm HFGD approaches each landscape as living art, respecting the unique properties of the land and our relationship to it. With over 30 years of garden design, his client list includes Kidspace Museum in Pasadena, Intercity Arts in downtown Los Angeles, and LA County Arboretum where he created a Weaver’s Garden of California native plants traditionally used for dye and weaving. Formby has a certificate in Permaculture Design and is current Chair of the Tree Advisory Committee for the City of Petaluma. He studied garden design at University of California, Los Angeles and San Francisco State University.
Place Matters is a content generator that explores our collective sense of place and home through curated conversations, exhibitions, and storytelling. We connect a local ecosystem of stakeholders, leveraging strong partnerships between local small businesses, cultural consumers, thought leaders, and makers. Each event presents multiple speakers to examine a common topic through diverse lenses and frames of experience.
Limited seating is available and some activities will be outdoors, so please dress warmly with comfortable shoes. Sponsorships opportunities are available.
