​What is "In the Writing Trenches"?

​A monthly writers' hangout for anyone workin' on a work-in-progress.

​Eg: Novels, short fiction/poetry collections, screenplays, play scripts, memoirs — any hefty chonk of writing.

​We meet. We chat. We share ideas, progress, problems, thoughts, inspiration, angst, techniques, advice, reading recommendations, whatever comes up.

​We keep each other accountable, motivate, boost confidence, commiserate, celebrate and empathise with the long ol' slog of it all.

​We sally forth to battle words in the writing trenches.

​Then we do it all again next month.

​What to expect:

• ​A one-hour group Zoom session — bring snacks, something to write notes on, maybe your favourite craft (I like crochet)

• ​A friendly group of writers committed to creating their chosen THING

• ​Me — your host, an editor, mentor and writer-of-all-trades with over 15 years of experience supporting creative people to develop their work (find out more about me & The Joy of Fixion)

• ​A semi-guided, mostly open discussion about the writing process — ask for advice, share your experiences, or just chill and listen

• ​Optional: a short exercise or prompt to try approaching your creative process/story in a new way
