Films for Foodies - Spotlight on The Gambia 🇬🇲 Film Screening & Community Dinner
Films for Foodies returns to the Kino & Bar to shine a spotlight on a small country with a big personality: The Gambia 🇬🇲
Despite being the smallest country on the African mainland, Gambia shines as a popular tourist destination and is famous for its warmth and hospitality. The nickname “the Smiling Coast of Africa” may technically come from the shape of its river, but it easily could have originated from the gleaming faces of the local population 🤩
Our cultural showcase begins with a sneak screening of a 2016 documentary (OV English w/ some English subs) focused on young Gambians who, looking to earn a living, become involved in the unofficial tourist economy and become colloquially known as “bumsters” 🏖️
After the film, we invite you stick around for a community dinner provided by Bantabaa Food Dealer - a restaurant concept that blossomed from an initiative to support West African refugees. Bantabaa is where the soul meets the stomach ❤️💙💚
Feel free to come for just the film, join us afterwards for dinner, or spend the entire afternoon celebrating world culture and cuisine with the ReSee community. Tickets are donation based, and we're thankful for whatever you can spare 🫶🏼
We hope to see you there 💛

HOW TO RESERVE TICKETS & ORDER FOOD
Unfortunately at our last event we lost about €150 due to no-shows who didn't cancel their food orders 😢 so this time we're requiring payment for the food in advance.
Step 1: RSVP for the movie by booking the "Standard" ticket type. Choose your donation amount (donations at the door are also welcome)
Step 2: Add additional "tickets" for each portion of food you would like to order. To give the restaurant time to prepare, ORDERS ARE DUE BY JUNE 28th AT 6PM! A small surcharge has been added to cover catering and processing.
That's it!
