Meet the Expert Webinar Series

Singlism and Mental Well-being Among Muslim Americans: Differences Across Gender and Age

Speaker: Dr. Aminah McBryde-Redzovic, MPH, PhD

This talk will examine the impact of singlism, or the stereotyping, marginalization, and discrimination of single individuals, on the mental well-being of Muslim Americans. Drawing from two quantitative studies, Dr. Aminah will discuss how experiences of singlism vary across gender and age groups, and how religiosity may moderate the relationship between perceived singlism and mental health.

The session will also provide an introduction to the concept of singlism and its unique significance for Muslim communities in the U.S.
