Science Club - The Effect of Deficit Irrigation at Propagation and Fruiting Stage for Strawberries.
Join us for our next Science Club as part of our Strawberry Series. Dr Keiri Winnie Swann, researcher at the University of Reading, is walking us through her last year of experiments on deficit irrigation.
Keiri studied the effect at two key stages: propagation and the fruiting stage that follows, all in a glasshouse environment. She'll share what she found for plant growth and yield, plus the number that growers and sustainability nerds will both want to hear: how much water it took to produce each kilogram of fruit. The fruiting part of the trial took place in a three-tiered vertical growing system, and she'll give us a proper introduction to the setup so you can picture how it all works.
Come with your questions, your curiosity, and your own strawberry stories. Whether you grow, research, study, or simply love a good berry, this is a chance to hear fresh results straight from the person who ran the trials, and to chat about what they could mean for the future of controlled environment agriculture.
See you there 💕
