The Morning After the Bubble Burst

The AI boom just stopped booming.

After years of extraordinary investment, the returns aren't keeping pace with expectations. Projects are being delayed, contracts reopened, and promises reconsidered.

In your city, a major AI infrastructure project is under review. Public institutions are reassessing their commitments. Community organisations are discovering how much they depend on commercial platforms.

But a crisis can also open a window.

What does the city actually need? What does it already have, and wants to own? And who would need to come together to build something different?

🎭 Enter the Prometheus Protocol, a participatory rehearsal for exploring who gets to shape our futures.

Step into possible futures, take on different roles, negotiate competing interests and experiment with different ways of organising.

Discover overlooked assets, unexpected alliances and new openings. Freeze the scene, step in, and try changing what happens next.

🔥 Together, we’ll explore:

  • What did we actually need, and what can we let go?

  • What assets, relationships and infrastructure can we build on?

  • Where does power sit, and how might it shift?

  • What alternatives could we make possible?

Expect envelopes, negotiations, awkward trade-offs, shifting alliances and unexpected openings.

No AI expertise is needed. This is a live rehearsal, not a debate, and there's no preset solution or required happy ending.

And then?

The rehearsal is a starting point.

We're exploring how people across cities and localities might turn these insights into action: mapping collective assets, identifying real-world levers and organising around possibilities they want to make real.

The Prometheus Protocol is an evolving public experiment by Collective Futures, designed to travel, adapt and help people rehearse ways of shaping the futures they share.
