About Event

Chico Mendes—Brazilian rubber tapper, trade unionist, and environmentalist—famously said, ‘Environmentalism without class struggle is just gardening.’

What, then, does environmentalism with class struggle look like? How can working-class people fight back against capitalism’s war on people and planet? How can we bridge the radical legacies of Earth Day and May Day to reflect a united, internationalist movement for a new system premised on social and ecological need for all, not profit for a few?

Join the Party for Socialism & Liberation ATX on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22nd for a presentation and panel discussion on all of these themes. We’ll hear from speakers from Austin and San Marcos about distinct but interconnected struggles for environmental justice, from Texas to Palestine:
- People Organized in Defense of Earth and her Resources (PODER)
- Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM)
- Data Center Action Coalition (DC/AC)
- Community Powered ATX (CPATX)
- Party for Socialism & Liberation (PSL)

Childcare and light snacks will be offered. Masks are encouraged and provided.
