action party towards a utopian transit system in Seattle
What you should know (food! fun! friends!)
About the event:
September's monthly theme is TRANSIT and how it intersects with the climate crisis. The third Tuesday of the month is our ACT night
Please do your best to arrive by 6:30!
6-6:45ish will be dedicated dinner + chat time
After that, we will have guided action stations to explore various modalities of transit in Seattle/King County/Washington State and how we can improve them, including ebikes, electric buses, pedestrian walkways, and more!
More broadly:
Soapbox Seattle is the city's most joyful community space for climate action. We gather EVERY TUESDAY same time same place (climate church?? lol)
It's all ages, as long as your kid(s) can be respectfully quiet during any Q&A portions of the evening. We love kids and babies and have plenty of supplies for them.
Plant-based dinner is always included so you don't have to think about what to eat. We have our own lovely chef so the food is cooked with love from local and regenerative farmers
No you do not have to be "a climate person" to come; you just need to be excited to meet people who share your values of caring about the earth/each other/wanting to breathe air etc. and no experience is required!
There will be activities and programming! This is not one of those networking events where you pretend to be on your phone because you don't know what to do.
All our events are sliding scale and if the litsed options don't work for you, you can request a reparative ticket here if you need one. It costs us ~$35 per person to put on so please contribute what you can
This space is hosted by Soapbox Project, a nonprofit that creates joyful community structures to heal our climate anxiety and loneliness through expertly facilitated connection, learning, and action activities. Find your place in the climate movement with our online and in-person community!
