Build with Codex: Sydney Hackathon
Build something you’ve been wanting to make.
Join OpenAI in Sydney for a hands-on day with Codex and Astra. Bring an idea, explore what’s possible, and turn it into a working prototype you can demo.
The OpenAI team will be on site throughout the hackathon to support participants, answer questions and help you work through challenges as you build.
The challenge
Use Codex and Astra to build something useful, creative or unexpected. Start with a problem you care about, focus on one idea you can test during the day, and show what you built and learned.
Who should apply
Developers, founders and other builders who want to experiment and make something. Whether you use Codex every day or are trying it for the first time, you’re welcome to apply. Come ready to learn, collaborate and build.
What to expect
A short kickoff, focused time to build with support from the OpenAI team, and demos to share your work and learn from other builders.
Prepare for the day
Bring your laptop, charger and an idea or problem to explore. Plan to attend the full session. We’ll share a setup checklist with accepted participants before the event so you can arrive ready to build.
Apply to join
Attendance is free, with capacity for 100 people. Applications close at 11:59pm AEDT on Sunday 18 October 2026. We’ll review applications as they come in.
Every participant must apply individually, including teammates. Your place is confirmed only when you receive an acceptance email.
