Clause & Effect: Making Carbon Removal Purchasing Agreements Work
A practitioner-led event for those engaged in carbon removal transactions today and those helping build the market infrastructure needed to support carbon removal at scale.
The session will explore how standardisation, legal rigour and practical tools can help simplify transactions, reduce friction and increase consistency across carbon removal purchasing agreements.
An expert panel will answer market and audience questions, sharing practical insights from real-world transactions and discussing the role of contracting infrastructure in supporting market growth.
Expert Panel:
- Simon Puleston Jones, SyndicatedCarbon
- Robert Höglund, CDR.fyi & Milkywire
- Matthias Ansorge, Carbonfuture
- Emanuela Rossi, Elimini
- Quincy Childs, Climeworks
- Daniel Sierra, Exomad Green
Moderator: Peter Mayer, OSCAR & SDFM
The session will introduce the English law version of the OSCAR template, alongside role-specific checklists and a risk matrix designed to support more efficient negotiations.
Participants will also have the opportunity for hands-on engagement with the OSCAR contract template and negotiation tools, with guidance from the legal practitioners involved in their development.
The event will conclude with an OSCAR contract clinic, available exclusively to buyers and suppliers currently engaged in live transactions.
OSCAR is an independent initiative to standardise carbon removal contracts, providing standard template contracts and tools to support better, faster, and cheaper carbon removal transactions in the jurisdictions where most transactions take place. OSCAR relies on volunteer contributions and the pro bono support of leading practitioners and legal firms working in the field. OSCAR is a CDR.fyi contributor and partner. The London Climate Action Week event is supported by gunnercooke, the OSCAR legal partner for the England & Wales legal jurisdiction.
