Black Gay Picture Day
Remember picture day? New outfit fit, fresh haircut, edges laid, and that little black comb they handed you in line. Then every couple of years, the whole family matched up and headed to JCPenney for the full production: all the boys, all the girls, just the siblings, every generation in one frame. Those portraits hung in your auntie’s hallway for twenty years.
A lot of us haven’t had that since we left home. Some of us have never had it with the family we found along the way. So we’re bringing picture day back, for Black queer folks and everyone who loves us.
Pull up with your lover, your loved ones, your given family and your chosen family. Coordinate your outfits or come exactly as you are.
How it works Drop in anytime. Check in, get your number, grab a snack, and when you’re called, sit for a quick 5–10 minute session in front of our custom backdrop. Every crew gets the whole-crew shot plus up to 3 combos from our menu: all the girls, all the boys, siblings, couples, generations, solos, or your own idea.
What it costs Nothing. The event is free, and allies are welcome. Every crew gets a free Hoodbutch-branded digital of their whole-crew portrait, emailed in your own gallery after the event.
Want the rest? Unbranded digitals and prints will be available for a fee. Proceeds support Requited, the first narrative short film from Hoodbutch Studios.
