trashscapes + Association Association | crossover walk

Join us for a very special crossover of Trashscapes Noticing Walks and The Association Association!

The Association Association is a free-floating monthly urban social gathering in NYC, dedicated to the collection and appreciation of coincidences. We gather in a new neighborhood each time. We explore and find all the coincidences! Or... let them find us? (learn more and join here!)

On this walk, we'll stroll the East Village, looking for interesting things worth pausing at and capturing them visually. Then, we'll share our findings with each other and search for the coincidences. :)

We suggest using a phone or camera, but feel free to bring a sketchbook or whatever medium you prefer. Any amount (including 0) of art experience is welcome.

This walk is inspired by trashscapes—an ongoing photography project that started with a simple habit: noticing the accidental compositions of debris and found matter on NYC streets. Over a decade of daily walks, the habit became an archive of what gets left behind. I'm drawn to the way found matter interplays with the city's infrastructure—using it as framing, finding balance in color and form, and making the incidental feel composed.
